Atlanta man accused of shooting 13-year-old after argument

ATLANTA (AP) – Police say a 13-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen following an altercation with a 39-year-old man at an Atlanta apartment complex.

Atlanta police spokesman Jarius Daugherty tells news outlets that officers responded to the apartment complex late Saturday night, and learned that the boy had already been taken to the hospital. Witnesses told police that Ryan Johnson lived in the apartment complex and had gotten into some kind of altercation with the teen earlier that day.

Johnson was arrested outside his apartment on charges of aggravated assault and other counts. The teen was listed as stable, but his exact condition is unknown.

The investigation is ongoing. It’s unclear whether Johnson has a lawyer.
