Backpacks, Resources, and Support: Wellpoint Tennessee Hosts ‘Back to School Bash’ in Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(WDEF) — With the start of the school year just days away, Wellpoint Tennessee brought the community together for a “Back to School Bash” to help local students head back to class with confidence.
Held in partnership with the Chattanooga Boys and Girls Club, the event provided 250–300 backpacks filled with school supplies, free health screenings, and access to mental health resources. Families also enjoyed food, entertainment, and support from community organizations, churches, and healthcare providers.
The event also benefited the Hamilton County School District’s “Teacher’s Closet,” collecting clothing and shoe donations to support students year-round.
Brittany Howard with Wellpoint TN said the goal went beyond just giving out supplies.
“What I want them to take away from the day is to feel confident and ready for a successful school year—knowing they have enough, at least when school starts,” said Howard.
For many families, the event offered more than just backpacks—it was a reminder that the community is behind them every step of the way.
