Ballpark Expected to Spur Growth
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly says the city’s new ballpark represents more than a sports venue, it’s part of a longer-term push to shape economic growth in surrounding neighborhoods.
He says the project is expected to draw investment into nearby areas while supporting continued revitalization in communities that have historically been overlooked.
Kelly also points to the stadium as a potential anchor for broader development, one that could help shift attention and resources toward the surrounding corridor.
For Kelly, the most meaningful impact is not just the facility itself, but what it could mean for the neighborhoods around it as the area continues to change and grow.
“The fact that it will be the nicest park in minor league baseball but again the thing that probably excites me the most is what we’ll do for that neighborhood because this is a part of town that has been overlooked and for many many many years and I think the economic lift that it can give Alton Park is the most exciting thing ultimately,” Kelly stated.
He says he believes the development will serve as a catalyst for long-term investment and continued economic growth in the area.
