Bama Prepares For Clemson in National Title Game
You don’t have to educate Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney on Alabama football. He played for the Tide, and he claims he had to make his allegiance to Bama known early since he was born in Alabama.
"I was brain-washed. Are you kidding? That’s just the way it is at Alabama. When you come out of the hospital, they’ve got to stamp your birth certificate as either Alabama or Auburn or you don’t leave."
Reporter to Tide coach Nick Saban-"Speaking of Dabo, you guys have different personalities in the way you go about doing things. What do you think of his personality the dancing in the locker room kind of stuff?"
Said Saban-"You know I like Dabo. He’s got a place where we have a place. We go for boat rides together and go out and eat."
Said Swinney-"I always told everybody Alabama was the smartest state. Four A’s, and a B. That’s how we grew up."
Alabama will need their A-game to slow down Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Said linebacker Reggie Ragland-"Deshaun is kind of like the Vols Josh Dobbs with the ball. We’ve got to look at him when we tackle him. Inside out on the ball."
Bama quarterback Jake Coker is coming off his best game of the year last week against Michigan State. Of course it helps to have a receiver like Calvin Ridley. Hard to believe he’s just a freshman.
Said Coker-"It’s pretty crazy for a true freshman to be able to do the things he has done. First seven-on-seven we had this summer, I knew he was going to be a guy that could really be reliable just because of his attitude."
Monday will mark Kirby Smart’s last game with Bama before he leaves for Georgia. And it sounds like Smart wants to leave with a bang.
Said Ragland-"If anything else, Coach Smart’s energy level has gone up even more. We know this is my last go, and this is his last go, so we’re going to do the best that we can."
