Bank robbery suspect identified and arrested
UPDATE: The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) has arrested the suspect in connection to the bank robbery incidents in Hixson over the weekend.
64-year-old David Taylor was taken into custody after returning to one of the banks he attempted to rob, demanding money and pointing a firearm at the tellers on Monday morning.
He was identified by a community member after seeing images shared by media, who then contacted CPD.
Taylor has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, and additional charges for the robbery and attempted robbery over the weekend are expected to occur.
He is in custody at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Tonight, the Chattanooga Police Department’s Robbery Unit is asking for the community’s help in identifying a suspect involved in two related bank incidents that happened late this morning.
According to the Chattanooga police, around 11:30 a bank robbery happened at Truist Bank, followed by an attempted robbery at First Horizon Bank, both located in Hixson, Tennessee.
At each location, the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to the teller.
The suspect received an undisclosed amount of cash from one bank but left the other without any money.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’10” tall, wearing a camouflage hoodie, khaki pants, sunglasses, and black shoes at the time of the incidents.
A security camera image of the suspect has been released.
