Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Baylor got a three run homer from Teddy Lepcio in the bottom of the seventh to beat Briarcrest Christian 11-10 on Thursday afternoon to advance to Spring Fling in Murfreesboro. Game three of the state quarterfinal series proved to be a dog fight all afternoon long. Baylor grabbed an early 4-0 lead, and then the Red Raiders missed a chance to blow the game open in the bottom of the 4th. Leading 4-2 at the time, Baylor loaded the bases with no outs, but then Kaleb Gipson struck out the next three batters to end the threat. In the top of the 5th, the Saints scored four runs to take a 6-4 lead. The Red Raiders rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. They scored on three walks, and then Jay Dill added a sac fly RBI. Baylor took an 8-6 lead to the top of the seventh trying to close the game out, but the Saints got a two-run homer from Tyler Harrington to tie the game at eight. They tacked on two more runs to go up 10-8. In the bottom of the seventh, Baylor got two men on with one out when Teddy Lepcio stepped in and hit an opposite field three run homer for the game winner. Said Lepcio:”I’ve never hit an opposite field home run. I laughed with my Dad. I pull the ball so much, you might as well put that ball in Cooperstown because it actually went opposite field. I was just looking for something I could hit hard and pass it down to my teammates. Luckily it went over the wall. I knew this was my last time playing at Wyatt McMahan Field. I just wanted to soak it in because this is the last time being able to play here. To be able to have this memory on this field is just truly a blessing.”
