Baylor Girls Fall 72-56 to Brentwood in State Title Game

Nashville-(WDEF) Brentwood Academy caught fire in the second half to beat the Baylor girls basketball team 72-56 for the Division II-AA state title on Saturday at Lipscomb University in Nashville.
The first half was tightly contested with the biggest lead coming at just three points.
Baylor’s Kaleigh Clemons hit a three with 25-seconds before the half to put the Red Raiders up one.
But with four seconds to go before the half, Brentwood scored on an in-bounds play under their own basket to go up 33-32 at halftime.
Baylor tied the score on a free throw by Mya Long to start the third, but Brentwood went on a 6-0 run, and Baylor couldn’t keep up.
Brentwood pushed their lead to eleven to start the fourth quarter.
They rolled to the 16-point victory by hitting 71-percent of their shots in the second half.
The Lady Eagles were led by Syndni Harvey, who scored a game high 24-points in earning game MVP honors.
Kaleigh Clemons paced Baylor with 13 points, while JuToreyia Willis added 12 points.
Besides the play of guard Sydni Harvey,Brentwood also hurt Baylor with their inside game.
The Lady Eagles out-scored Baylor 13-0 on second chance points, and they out-scored the Red Raiders 32-16 in the paint.
Baylor was looking to claim their first ever state title in basketball.
