Beat the Heat campaign begins
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Summer is approaching quickly, and the Salvation Army is doing everything they can to help the community stay cool.
The beat the heat campaign started this week and the salvation army is giving out fan boxes to those in need.
Part of the Salvation Army’s mission is to give back and provide to low-income families with the necessary tools they need this summer.
“Well, the amazing thing about this is there’s actually two benefits. Obviously, we’re providing a great service for the community, but also it helps lower bills and air conditioning by having a fan or something in your house you don’t have to rely on air conditioning. It’s actually helping people save money and keeping their homes so that way they can pay for food and other things they need for their family,” said Area Commander Major Douglas.
Donations to help this program are welcome through June 3.
