Black Lives Matter march blocks Georgia Avenue Thursday night

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Thursday night streets downtown where blocked during a black lives matters protest.

Protesters carried signs that say “Justice for Javario.”

The signs refer to Javario Eagle.

He was a man killed during and incident with police officers last year.

The protesters made their way through downtown chanting.. “freedom now.”

Protestor Aysja Pryor told us “we are here for several reasons right number 1 for that reason is we are bringing awareness to people about black lives right so i am sure they have heard us here freedom now or heard us say ‘freedom now’.. hashtag freedom now.”

The protesters marched down Georgia Avenue and stopped in front of the Hamilton county jail.

The demonstration shut down one intersection before ending.
