Blood Assurance needs extra donors during forecasted wintry weather

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) –  Blood Assurance encourages community members to make a blood donation before inclement winter weather arrives.
Officials say the organization continuously needs blood donations, but winter weather can often prohibit donors from being able to visit a donor center or mobile blood drive. Residents able to safely visit a Blood Assurance location are encouraged to donate so that local hospital patients can receive the blood and platelets that are so urgently needed.
The organization is asking the community to please consider taking 30 minutes out of their day to make a donation that will help save lives and meet the needs of area hospital patients. Blood Assurance thanks all donors for giving back to those in need.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health.
