ATHENS, TN (WDEF) – In an effort to meet the recently spiked demand for O blood types, non-profit regional blood center, Blood Assurance, is giving donors the chance to win one of four pairs of tickets to the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce’s 9th Annual Benefit Dinner, featuring keynote speaker Peyton Manning. The benefit event will be held this Saturday, June 27 at 6 pm at McMinn County High School. All donors who make a blood donation this week will be entered into the ticket drawing. Tickets are valued at $50 per person.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids – avoiding caffeine – and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
