Blue Cross Blue Shield donates 600 sets of pajamas to East Side Elementary
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee delivered 600 pairs of pajamas to East Side Elementary today.
This was the result of their 2017 Pajama Drive to East Side Elementary. They gathered enough PJs to provide every one of East Side’s 600 students with a pair.
The students will be allowed to wear the pajamas to school on Polar Express Day, a holiday celebration typically held right before winter break that involves watching the Polar Express movie and enjoying hot cocoa and popcorn.
The pajamas were collected to ensure that every child has something to wear on this special day, and no one is left out.
The BlueCross Pajama Drive, now in its third year, began in 2015 when an East Side Elementary teacher reached out for a community partner to help make the holidays a little brighter for students in need. BlueCross answered the call, and donations for one classroom soon became donations for 20 classrooms. The first year, 350 pairs of pajamas were collected.
