Blue Hole to Close for One Year for Improvement Projects

A construction project at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Park will close the main parking area and forbid access to the Blue Hole for about one year.

The project is said to improve parking by adding asphalt and striping, improve the entrance to the park, add an ADA pier for river viewing and include a restroom.

“We are excited about these new features coming to our park. Unfortunately, the work will curtail parking and close access to the Blue Hole. We want visitors to know what to expect, and we appreciate their patience while we make these upgrades. Safety is our highest priority.”

Park Manager Sarah Geeslin said.

All the popular water holes that are accessed from the main parking area will be closed.

Other locations at the park such as Flipper Bend or Barker Camp have limited parking.

Rangers and staff may close areas with little to no notice to park visitors.

The work will begin in early 2026.
