Blues concert held to support Woodmore families

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Some Chattanooga residents are using blues music to support the families impacted by the recent deadly school bus crash.

Donations from tonight’s blues benefit concert are going to the Woodmore Fund of the United Way Community Foundation.

Several bands performed their best music, including the Drew Sterchi Blues Tribe, and the Atlanta Horns.

Organizers say it was a no brainer putting on this event.

“I come out of a tradition that my late father started here in Chattanooga when he raised money for children to have clothes and shoes, and at the school where he was principal, no child went hungry or went without shoes. I come from that tradition of giving back, so it’s very easy for us to see a need and fill it,” says Dr. Clark White who organized the event.

As of 8:30pm Sunday Night, more than $600 was raised at the concert.
