Boat burns on Chickamauga Lake

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – A 25 foot Cruiser burned this afternoon at Island Cover Marina on Chickamauga Lake.

A resident saw the boat was on fire, and pushed it out into the slough.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer fireboat was called to put it out.

Highway 58 fire officials say the owners had been running the boat this morning.

Minutes after they left the marina, they got the call telling them it was on fire.

Hazmat crews are trying to contain any possible fuel spill out in the lake.

The loss is estimated at $75-80,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
