Body of Missing Chattanooga Man Discovered in Creek

CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF-TV) – There was a tragic ending today to the search for a Chattanooga man reported missing On Sunday.

"

That was about 9:30 in the morning—not quite 24 hours after 85 year old Charles Pittman disappeared from his home in Ooltewah.
Officers responded quickly and found the body of an elderly man face down in a small creek on Bonnie Oaks Drive near the Redoubt Soccer field.

COLBY BURNETTE, WENT TO INVESTIGATE "It was an older white man…with white curly hair ..flannel shirt own."

The clothing on the unidentified man, jeans and a brown jacket, matched that worn by Mr. Pittman.
But the body was taken to the Hamilton county medical examiner’s office for a positive identification which came three hours later.
The investigation confirmed what police at the scene suspected.

SGT. TOM LAYNE, CHATTANOOGA POLICE DEPARTMENT "At this point there are no signs of foul play..nothing looks amiss at this point."

It’s still not known how Mr. Pittman got to that part of Bonnie Oaks Drive. No immediate cause of death was announced.
Authorities had launched a full-scale search for Mr. Pittman late yesterday, including volunteers and members of Chattanooga stars.
