Body of woman found near mountain in north Georgia

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say the body of a woman has been found near a mountain in north Georgia.

White County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bob Ingram tells multiple news outlets on Wednesday that 27-year-old Virginia Grace Hill of Gainesville was found near Yonah Mountain. Authorities believe Hill was alone when she fell and doesn’t suspect any foul play.

Ingram says a hiker spotted the body and called 911. Ingram says Hill died from the impact of the fall and was found Tuesday.

Hill’s sister, Carolina Mutch, tells the Gainesville Times that Hill played on the Chestatee High School basketball team. Mutch says Hill was an active person and it’s not common for her sister to hike on her own.
