EAST RIDGE — The bomb squad was called in on May 1, 2026 to the Goodwill in East Ridge after a grenade was found by an employee who was processing donations, according to the East Ridge Police Department (ERPD).

They say the employee decided to drive it to the Fire and Police Department to report it. The object was isolated and Chattanooga Bomb Squad responded.

“It had the appearance of a very old British grenade (think pirate grenade, ball with fuse).”

– The East Ridge Police Department says.

They say CPD examined the object and decided to transport it for disposal.

It was then counter-charged at the range.
