Boyd Buchanan School hosts Annual Physics Boat Day

Winning team enjoys extra credit to close the year

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) — Boats and brainiacs took to Lake Buccaneer Wednesday afternoon at Boyd Buchanan School for the Annual Physics Boat Day race.

Students designed and raced homemade boats out of cardboard, duct tape and paint.

Some were reduced to mere scraps, but one stood taller than the rest.

The vessel’s name? The Jolly Roger.

The champions say the event is highly anticipated each year.

“We do look forward to it because it’s towards the end of the year,” said junior Sophia Craig. “We got to win, so that’s good and the whole school comes out and watches it. It’s really good to represent our school in that way.”

The prize for winning the event?

Extra credit all around for the three girls.

Don’t forget that, in high school … that’s quite valuable.
