Bradley Central Bearettes Keep District Championship Streak Rolling

Athens, TN-(WDEF-TV) Streaks have always gained plenty of notoriety in sports, and it’s hard not to be impressed by the streak the Bradley Central girls basketball team has put together. Last night the Bearettes captured their 12th consecutive district tournament title.

Keeping the district title streak in tact wasn’t easy last night for Bradley central.
McMinn County took’em down to the wire.
Hannah Jones put the Bearettes up one with about 10 seconds to play.
Then the Cherokees could not convert on the other end.
Bradley Central survives. 37-36.
Said head coach Jason Reuter:”Our kids really showed a lot of heart. We were 1-for-19 from the three. I mean we couldn’t buy a basket.”
Said guard Sloan Carpenter:”But we didn’t shoot well. We shot 5-percent from the three. So we just like took care of the ball. Got it into our post and played really good defense.”
Said Reuter:”You know if you didn’t beat us tonight, you missed a chance.”
Yes Bradley Central has a good program. But winning 12 straight district titles is rough, especially when you’re facing some teams for the third time in a season.
Said forward Hannah Jones:”I mean after awhile you start knowing their plays. Their out-of-bounds plays. So I mean it’s easier, but it’s also hard for you because you’re like they know our plays. They know what we are going to do. Just about balancing it out.”
While the Bearettes don’t talk about the streak, it’s kind of hard to ignore.
Said Reuter:”Yeah 12 times. Look you keep rolling dice, you’re finally going to roll snake eyes.”
Said Jones:”It’s honestly like who is going to end it. So you just don’t want to be the one to end it.”
Said Reuter:”The streak is not going to go on forever, but I hope it doesn’t happen under my watch. Let it by the next guy or next women. Proud of my girls.”
