Bradley Co. Charges Man in Hammer Attack

Bradley County, TN (WDEF) – An Alabama man has been arrested in Georgia for an alleged attack in East Tennessee.

The incident happened Wednesday morning in Bradley County.

Sheriff Eric Watson says that 27-year old Adam Blake Mahathy from Rogersville used a key to his former girlfriend’s home on Burke Ridge Drive.

Investigators say he then attacked 35-year old Paul McClary of Delano with a hammer.

The victim was hit in the head and face.

Investigators say Mahathy fled the scene without hurting Ashley trammel.

Thursday night, their suspect was arrested in Acworth, Georgia, north of Atlanta.

He faces charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Burglary.

Sheriff Eric Watson says “This was an extremely serious case that members of Bradley County’s CID started investigating immediately. They were able to develop leads and track those leads until an arrest was made,” the Sheriff said, “ I sincerely thank the Acworth Police Department in Georgia for their cooperation in taking Mr. Mahathy into custody. We will get him back to Bradley County to face these very serious charges.”
