Bradley County and state officials discuss school threats on radio
BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bradley County and Tennessee state officials went on Mix 104.1 to address the rise in school threats.
Bradley County’s Sheriff Steve Lawson, School Director Dr. Linda Cash, and Safety and Security Coordinator Zech Pike discussed the recent rise in school threats in the Tennessee Valley area.
Linda Cash spoke about phishing online, and how it’s feeding into these threats.
Cash also said, “the other thing is, you can no longer do that, you can’t even casually said, you know, anything about that kind of violence because we have to follow up.”
She goes onto to say that training with students about other words to use and other ways in handling these types of situations will be beneficial.
State Representatives Dan Howell, Kevin Raper, and Senator Adam Lowe were also interviewed, and discussed actions can be taken to further prevent threats and tragedies in school systems throughout the area.
Senator Lowe spoke on taking a parent perspective to Nashville into legislation.
He also mentions that Tennessee has put more funding into school safety than ever before
Lowe goes onto to say that in our society today, “it’s a necessary condition”.
