BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bradley County first responders were able to safely resolve a mental health crisis Monday.

It happened at a home in Northeast Bradley County near Urbane Road.

The situation escalated after paramedics and firefighters on a medical call say the subject became combative.

When Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, the initial first responders had left the home due to the actions of the man they were trying to help.

A brief search for the man was conducted in the nearby neighborhood with help from the Cleveland Police Department.

The man returned to his home and a BCSO drone was used to drop a cell phone so that a member of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team could speak with the man.

During negotiations the man fired shots at the drones. He eventually surrendered and was taken to the hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation, and criminal charges will be decided at the conclusion of the investigation.
