Brand News: Chattanooga McDonald’s location offering new high tech straw this morning

UPDATE: The Highway 58 McDonald’s quickly went through their supply of specially designed straws this morning designed for the new Shamrock Shakes. Two of them went to a fan who drove all the way from Harriman this morning to get them. This was the only McDonald’s in Tennessee giving out the straws.

____

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A local McDonald’s will be one of only 80 locations across the country today to offer a new take on the straw.

As a marketing gimmick for their seasonal McCafe shakes, the fast food chain engineered (quite literally) a new type of straw.

Instead of the old straight version, they came up with a plastic J shape.

They call it The STRAW (Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal).

But you’ll have to act fast to be one of the few Americans to get them.

The Highway 58 location (4608 Highway 58) will have them for just the first 14 customers to purchase a Chocolate Shamrock Shake beginning at 9:45 this morning.

At least they aren’t taking this new straw technology too seriously!
