Sears Holdings announced a new round of store closings late Thursday.. 65 Kmarts, 3 Super K stores and 10 Sears stores.

Two of those Kmarts are in East Tennessee.

The locations in Athens and Sweetwater will close at the end of July.

The liquidation sales begin on May 12th.

The locally owned chicken restaurant has expanded to five locations across the south.

But this is their first expansion in Chattanooga, making it their 2nd location here.

ABINGDON, VA (WDEF) – Food City groceries will begin offering curbside pickup at selected stores.

The GoCart program lets you select groceries online, and then pick them up at your local store.

They will even pack your car for you at the curb.

You pay from your car.

Food City will charge a $4.99 additional fee for the service.

“GoCart combines the added convenience of drive-thru service with the personalization of on-line shopping. It’s truly the best of both worlds,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

Start the process by creating an account at the Food City website.

“Our Food City professional shoppers are trained to carefully review the notes and requests submitted with each order to ensure our valued customers receive the correct items in the quickest, most convenient manner possible,” Smith adds.

Food City GoCart is currently available at the following locations:

Food City #703, 5604 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343
Food City #712, 255 Ocoee Crossing North, Cleveland, TN 37312
Food City #727, 3901 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, TN 37415
Food City #773, 1667 Ooltewah-Ringgold, Ooltewah, TN 37363

They will expand it to more stores in the coming months.


NEW YORK (AP) – McDonald’s says sales rose 5.4 percent at established U.S. locations in the first quarter, marking the third straight increase as the world’s biggest burger chain fights to stage a comeback.

The Oak Brook, Illinois, company is trying to win back customers, conceding that it failed to keep up with changing tastes. As part of the turnaround push, it introduced an all-day breakfast menu last fall and is looking to step up its core offerings. That includes testing different versions of its Big Mac.
