Braves Take .500 Record Into Monday Off Day

The Braves were off Monday before entertaining Toronto Tuesday.
It seems Atlanta has been stuck in the mud for much of the season, but now they’ve won four of their last five games, including a crazy come-from-behind win on Saturday night against the Phillies. Maybe Atlanta is starting to turn the corner.

The Braves haven’t been great this year, but they’re at five-hundred and just a game-and-a-half out of first.
Said manager Brian Snitker:”I don’t know. The vibe is different right now than it was a couple of days ago. That we survived the first game of the series, and then to win that game last night. Then to take the series today is more indicative I think of what we’re capable of.
Reporter:”How important might this weekend be to think about everything this team did over the last 24 hours?
Said first base man Freddie Freeman:”Yesterday’s game was huge for us. To erase three deficits, and to ultimately win that game was a huge momentum boost for us going into today. It was a good weekend. Getting 100 percent of the fans back in and winning the series. Game them something to cheer about. That was. That was a good weekend for us.”
It’s no coincidence that the Braves played better because Freeman started hitting again. He homered both Saturday and Sunday.
Said Snitker:”Yeah. You know what I mean. All of sudden Freddie is starting to look like Freddie.”
Said Freeman:”I felt good at the beginning of the year. I just didn’t get any hits. And then I wasn’t feeling good, and then hopefully I’m starting to feel good. It has felt like there’s one big glove out there for me all year. So maybe they’ll be reduced to eight small ones now, so hopefully I’ll start finding some holes.”
Pretty cool that Freeman homered on Mother’s Day, considering his mom died when Freeman was a child.
Said Freeman:”It was always a sad day for me for a long time on Mother’s Day, and it has turned to happiness now with my wife and having three boys. It’s a special day. There’s a lot of emotions that go through each minute of this day, but I’m glad to be able to end it on a high note. We all know my mother is looking down and very proud of her three boys and her grand children. So it’s a roller coaster of emotions, but I know she’s happy right now, so that’s all that matters.”
