Catoosa Deputy Shot on Easter Sunday

RINGGOLD, GA (WDEF) – A Catoosa County Deputy was shot on Easter Sunday while serving a warrant.

Sheriff Gary Sisk tells News 12 that deputies were serving a warrant in the 1100 block of Edgeman Road in Ringgold shortly before 10 p.m.

According to the Sheriff, the unnamed man they were trying to arrest started fighting with a deputy. A gun went off, shooting the deputy in the finger.

He was taken to a local hospital where he will be okay. The Sheriff would not say if it was the deputy’s gun or the suspect’s gun, or who pulled the trigger.

The suspect was taken to the jail.

Georgia State Troopers were on scene Sunday night helping process the scene.

Neighbors tell News 12 they are surprised that their neighbor, who they would not identify by name, was involved in any crime.
