Broad Street reconstruction survey launched

River City Company says residents want to see street become "safer, greener, livelier"

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Broad Street could soon be receiving a facelift.

The River City Company has launched an online survey to hear from the community how they’d like to see that happen.

President and CEO Emily Mack says she wants to see every Chattanoogan provide their feedback.

The majority of input received so far shows residents want Broad Street to be “safer, greener and livelier.”

“I’m actually overwhelmed with the community’s enthusiasm for this project,” Mack said. “Our community is actively engaged and it is our residents, our property owners and our business owners that will actually shape the future of Broad Street.”

Mack says there are currently drafts showing Broad Street with wider sidewalks, a park street, and even a promenade street.

She says Broad could eventually be reconstructed to match any one of three designs or even incorporate a little bit of each.
