Burglars foiled by a fallen tree in the North Carolina mountains

CHEROKEE, North Carolina (WDEF) – A North Carolina resident uses a chain saw to catch three suspected robbers in the act.

It happened Thursday morning on Genny Hughes Road on Pack Mountain in Cherokee County.

A resident called deputies reporting a home break-in, and then cut down a tree to block their escape.

The three tried to flee down another road but got their car stuck.

Deputies found the suspects and drugs.

They are 36 year old Robert Corliss Reed from Turtletown, 38-year old Kellie Morrow from Murphy and 32 year old Brian Christopher Cordell from Murphy.

Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “As you can see these folks were from around the area where they were stealing from. They also were found with drugs on them. We continue to work as a team to combat our crime menace. I want to commend the officers on their quick response to a remote area of the county and being diligent in continuing the chase to apprehend these three.”
