It’s Business as Usual for The Chattanooga Zoo after Tragedy Struck in Cincinnati
CHATTANOOGA Tenn. (WDEF) – Just days after the Cincinnati Zoo’s tragic incident, the Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park doesn’t seem to be losing any business.
Over the weekend, a 4-year-old boy found himself face to face with a 400 lbs. gorilla named Harambe. Park officials had to make the tough decision to kill Harambe to save the child, which experts at the Chattanooga Zoo say was the right decision to make.
“In this case the animal didn’t appear to be being overly aggressive,” said Darde Long, CEO & Executive Director of the Chattanooga Zoo, “However, his sheer strength could literally kill the child without even meaning to.”
There aren’t any gorillas currently living in the Chattanooga Zoo, but they do have a few dangerous animals. So Long suggests keeping your children close at all times when visiting.
