Butch Jones Believes Recent NFL Draft Will Benefit Vols

Vols coach Butch Jones joined his SEC coaching companions on a league conference call on Monday
Jones is set to begin his fifth season as UT’s head coach, and he feels pretty good about the state the program, especially after the recent NFL draft.
After going two years with no players drafted, Tennessee had six players taken in April’s draft, led by first round selection Derek Barnett to Philadelphia.
The last time UT had that many players drafted was 2010.
Jones believes sending that many guys to the NFL has a positive affect on the team.
Said Jones:”You know it helped our current football team when they’re walking to practice and coming in, and they’re seeing NFL head coaches there working our players out. Just having them around the building. Having them during practice. All those things I thought were very beneficial. There are only 3 teams in the SEC that have won 9 games or more the last two seasons, and Tennessee is one of those. Those individuals had a big play in that. I thought it brought a lot of benefit to a lot of areas in our football program.”
