Thieves smash windows of cars at East Ridge movies

EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A car break-in victim is coming forward after someone smashed the window of his truck and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment in East Ridge.

Police say several car break-ins have happened over the past five days outside of the movie theater.

One of the victims hopes people with information come forward.

Rick Johnson and and his wife went out to a movie Thursday night in East Ridge.

When he got out of the theater, he found out his truck was broken into. He say another car that was parked nearby was also broken into.

Johnson is an independent videographer and had equipment in his car, including a laptop bag and camera bag that was stolen.

He estimates it was worth $10,000.

“When I saw the glass broken, I literally just felt like I was going to pass out, because I knew how much stuff I had in the back of my truck. There was another camera bag that thankfully was not taken,” Johnson said.

According to police, no arrests have been made in these cases.

If you have any information about the break-ins, you are asked to call East Ridge Police.
