Carjacking Turns Into A Police Chase That Ends In Crash

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Three people are in custody following a carjacking in east Chattanooga, followed by a police chase.

A Police spokesman says at about 2:00 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle that had been involved in a carjacking in Collegedale, and an assault in south Chattanooga.

When they tried to stop it, the driver sped away with police in pursuit.

It ended at Dodds and Kirby when the suspect vehicle hit truck and trailer, and another car.

“The officers noticed the vehicle matching the description had been boloed before..ran the tag..the tag coming back that it was involved in a carjacking and also an aggravated assault ..when uh when the lights were activated that’s when the vehicle took off from police,” stated Lt. Daniel Jones.

“Yeah, they were attempting to run from police…and uh, they jumped out and attempted to run ..police caught ’em very quickly on the sidewalk,” said Issac Hamilton who was hit in his vehicle by the suspects’ car.

The three suspects have not been identified.

The female driver of one of the other vehicles was treated for minor injuries.
