Catoosa County Firefighters support ‘Fill the Boot’ campaign

FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (WDEF) – Catoosa County firefighters are out in the community this week supporting a long-standing tradition.

Crews with the Catoosa County Fire Department are collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their annual “Fill the Boot” campaign.

You can find firefighters outside the Walmart in Fort Oglethorpe, where they are accepting donations from shoppers throughout the week.

Officials say the fundraiser helps support programs and services for families affected by muscular dystrophy.

John Pless, Public Information Officer for Catoosa County, said giving back is at the heart of what firefighters do.

“Well, you know firefighters, like all employees with Catoosa County, our hearts are in our jobs and in our community. Anything we can do to increase the quality of life and help great causes like MDA is in our DNA. It is what we like to do. We like to help our neighbors,” Pless said.

Organizers encourage the community to stop by, donate, and support the effort, noting that every contribution helps make a difference for families in need.
