CCS Football Coach Mark Mariakis Steps Down

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) After seven seasons as the head football coach at CCS, Mark Mariakis has announced his resignation. Mariakis took the Chargers to the post season six times during his tenure. He said he decided to leave for family reasons.

Said Mariakis:”My wife and I took my mom in when my dad passed five years ago. So becoming primary care-givers. Just takes a lot of time. I just never wanted to be a reason for our program that is climbing and successful to ever go down.”

During his time on the sidelines, Mariakis has seen a jump in the number of players who have come out for the team, and the school has also increased the number of assistant coaches.
