Celebrating 38 Years of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga at the Raise the Roof Luncheon

For 38 years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga has built over 300 homes, helping individuals in need. Today, they held their Raise the Roof luncheon, which not only celebrated success but also provided insight into the inner workings of what they do for Chattanooga.

With heartfelt speeches and inspiring stories, the luncheon was a reminder of the vital role Habitat for Humanity plays in creating a better tomorrow.

Among those honored today was Tangela Walker, a proud Habitat for humanity homeowner who has experienced the transformative power of the program firsthand.

“Learning all the essential skills needed as a homeowner has been eye-opening, especially discovering things I can do for myself that I never thought I could. I really enjoyed the construction classes; it was amazing to see how a piece of lumber can be put together to form a home,” said Tangela Walker.

CEO of Habitat for Humanity, Jens Christensen, discusses the meaningful work they do to bring joy to families as they receive their new homes.

“It makes me feel wonderful knowing that people will allow us to be a part of their lives in that way; it’s just so incredible. The best three days are the day someone enters the program, the day they select their lot, and we begin building, and the day we dedicate the home and hand over the keys,” said Christensen.

Through community support, Habitat for Humanity is making strides toward ensuring that everyone has a place to call home.
