Central Softball Pitcher Brooke Parrott Becomes Strikeout Machine
Harrison, TN-(WDEF) There’s only one K in Brooke Parrott’s first name.
But maybe she should add another two or three, given the K’s she racks up pitching for Central.
Parrott is a strikeout machine.
When Brooke Parrott goes in the circle, she gets stingy because she doesn’t want to give up anything.
Said Parrott:”I mean my goal for every game is not letting anyone get a hit. Not let anyone get on base.”
And that’s pretty much what Parrott does. This year her ERA is next to zero, and she has struck out 252 batters.
Said head coach LeeAnne Shurette:”Obviously she has a really good rise ball, but she throws a good curve, and a good screw ball. She just has the ability to make it jump on a batter. They think it’s coming in meaty and before they know it, it’s above their bats.”
And Parrott doesn’t exactly look like a power pitcher.
Said Parrott:”Well I used to go to college camps and stuff. They’d say like. They’d be really surprised, and they would say stuff to me about my size. They were just surprised that I threw so hard.”
Coach Shurette says Parrott can deliver in clutch situations.
Said Shurette:”For us, I just appreciate the fact that we can have bases loaded, and she can come through with a strikeout.”
Reporter:”Does she ever get tired?”
Said Shurette:”No. She wants the ball, so I think any really good, competitive pitcher wants the ball.”
Last November, Parrott signed to play college ball at Tennessee Tech.
Shurette:”Well I definitely think she deserves to play Division One ball. She has put the time and effort in ever since she was a little kid.”
Before Parrott leaves for college, she hopes to get her team back in the state Spring Fling.
Said Parrott:”I really want us to go to state. I really think we have the potential to go this year and definitely win. Like that’s definitely motivating.”
