CEO talks financial planning at the Pachyderm Club

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Pachyderm Club is continuing its tradition of civic discussions in downtown Chattanooga.

The group welcomed guest speaker Mark Fraker, CEO of the Chattanooga Federal Employees Credit Union—one of the oldest surviving credit unions in Tennessee.

During his remarks, Fanker encouraged the audience to take a different approach to financial planning.

“Hey, why don’t you start setting aside money now, so you can pay cash for that car, rather than borrowing money and paying us interest?” he said. “Well, guess what? If they do that, we aren’t making money. Having people in debt puts food on my table… but I hate being in debt, and I hate seeing people in debt. Proverbs 22:7 is very clear: the borrower is servant to the lender.”

The Pachyderm Club holds regular meetings to promote open dialogue on political and civic issues, often inviting leaders from across the community to speak.
