CFC Fall 2-1 in Overtime to Atlanta Silverbacks

Chattanooga-(WDEF) The CFC came close to pulling off a big upset on Wednesday night in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup before eventually falling 2-1 to the Atlanta Silverbacks in overtime. Chattanooga is an amateur soccer club from the NPSL, while Atlanta is a pro team from the NASL.
 Chattanooga took a 1-0 lead in the 87 minute mark on a goal by Luke Winter. But barely a minute later, and CFC was called for a foul in the box. Atlanta cashed in on the short penalty kick to make it 1-1. Match went to overtime where Atlanta got a goal to win it 2-1. They advance to play the New York Red Bulls of the MLS.
 The loss was Chattanooga’s first of the season. Their record falls to 5-1. All three of the CFC’s matches in the U.S. Open Cup went to overtime.
