Charity Baptist Church Burgled In Bradley County

BRADLEY COUNTY,TN, (WDEF)-Changing of locks and adding of extra security Monday at Charity Baptist in Bradley County.

Dr. Allen Burnette, Pastor of Charity Baptist,"Took one of the air conditioners out and proceeded through the building to my office where they took one of my laptops other than that they did not make it to the fellowship hall, don’t know what might have happened or spooked them or whatever".

The burglary happened late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning.
The burglars entered through a window facing right on to the 4000 block of Dalton Pike.

Steve Lawson, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office,"We can’t pin point it right now but hopefully working working over the next few days we will get some more leads in the case".

There are more than half a dozen other churches within a 1 mile radius of Charity Baptist.

Steve Lawson, Bradley County Sheriff’s Office,"We want to catch them, we don’t want other burglaries in this area, we want to send a clear message we are going to deal with them the best we can with all the resources and devout full time to them".

Charity Baptist has more than 70 active members and was established more than 50 years ago.

Church members added there was some internal damage done to the church but nothing that couldn’t be fixed easily.

A reward of 400 dollars cash is being offered for information on the burglary.
