Chattanooga Airport soon welcomes Global Entry center
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga Airport officially announced their plans for their new Global Entry center.
“On Monday, our Board of Commissioners approved a contract with the US, Customs and Border Protection Agency to reach approximately 1000 square feet of space here in the terminal building, with the purpose of establishing a Global Entry Enrollment Center,” said April Cameron, President and CEO of Chattanooga Airport.
Global Entry provides fast screening for international air travelers when entering the United States.
Cameron considers Global Entry great for Chattanooga’s growth.
“We think that it is going to bring a lot of people into our airport,” said Cameron. “We think it is going to bring a lot of people into the community. By having this enrollment center here in Chattanooga, we really think that it is going to increase awareness of our airport and the convenience that we offer.”
The Global Entry Office will be located near Baggage Claim inside the airport.
Cameron believes Global entry will also spark an interest for those flying into Chattanooga.
“By having customs located here in the airport. It is going to help all international flights that come in, whether they are private, they have to be screened by customs, so having them located here at the airports and expedite that,” said Cameron.
And with the addition of Global Entry, Cameron is excited for the future of the Chattanooga Airport.
“We see that that growth is going to continue to expand, especially with this LaGuardia service, starting back in October. Delta is increasing seat capacity in the market along with American as well. We have got Allegiant with the new Service in Las Vegas. So everyone is adding seat capacity, so we think that is going to continue to just grow our airport,” Cameron concluded.
