Chattanooga celebrates 423 Day with community pride at Miller Park

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-If you thought it was just another ordinary day—think again.

Chattanooga came together loud and proud to celebrate 423 Day, turning three simple numbers into a citywide show of unity, pride, and connection.

At Miller Park, the energy was hard to miss. Neighbors gathered, vendors set up shop, and music filled the air as the city came alive in celebration of what it means to be part of the 423.

For many, the day is about more than just an area code—it’s about the people.

“I’ve lived in Chattanooga since I was four—the community is absolutely amazing,” said Summer Wilkie, owner of Myria’s DIYs.

That sense of community is exactly what 423 Day aims to highlight.

Local vendors say the event gives them a chance to not only showcase their businesses, but also represent the city that supported them along the way.

“423 means everything to me… it’s who we are—Chattanooga,” said Tenesica Bolding, owner of Trecie’s Cakes. “We’re just out here with the community, selling and having a good time.”

From small business owners to longtime residents, many say that connection is what makes Chattanooga feel like home.

For some, that pride runs even deeper.

“It means a lot to me because it’s giving us something to be proud of… some kind of unity—citywide unity,” said Bryan Slayton, owner of Bad wRAPs.

As the celebration continues to grow, so does the meaning behind it—bringing people together from all walks of life, all connected by the same three numbers.

Because in Chattanooga, 423 isn’t just an area code—it’s a community.
