Davis, who represents the Hixson area, will now serve as the council’s chairperson and oversee meetings for the coming year.
Councilwoman Jenny Hill, who represents the North Shore district, previously held the position over the last year.
Davis was elected after receiving more support than Councilwoman Marvene Noel, who was also considered for the role.
Following the vote, Davis thanked fellow council members for their confidence.
“Council, I appreciate your confidence in me in this role, and I promise I will work hard to make sure we do our work effectively and efficiently,” Davis said.
The chairperson is responsible for leading City Council meetings and helping guide the legislative process.
Council members say they look forward to continuing their work on behalf of Chattanooga residents under the council’s new leadership.
