Chattanooga City Council Embraces 2024 Riverfront Parks Plan

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) The Chattanooga City Council has officially adopted the 2024 evolving our riverfront parks framework plan. The grant from BlueCross is intended to enhance the park ensuring that these spaces are accessible, sustainable, and engaging for everyone.

“It’s not conducive to mobility issues, including pushing baby strollers and wheelchairs, and so I think that was the start of it. How do we make an asset that is effectively the front porch of Chattanooga a place where all our neighbors want to spend time together?” said Vice Chairwoman for Chattanooga Council Jenny Hill.

If successful, this grant could provide up to $10 million to support the revitalization efforts outlined in the new framework plan.

“In the renderings, there are things that look like enormous fish, and we’ve learned of other cities that have interactive sturgeon or flamingos. I’m excited to see how Chattanoogans can imagine something like that for our own use and make it an iconic structure within our city,” said Hill.
