Chattanooga Food Bank Gets $10,000 CSX Grant

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) CSX and the Conservation Fund select the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to receive a $10,000 grant.

It’s to improve the transportation and distribution of nutritious local food to communities in need.

The food bank plans to use the money to buy two manual food pedal clipping machines.

The machines will help them more efficiently bag bulk produce in easier-to-handle sizes.

The CAFB’s Sourcing and Inventory Manager Lori Bell says, "Bulk produce is less expensive so the produce baggers allow us to save money for other necessary food items by purchasing in bulk quantities. The baggers will also help us engage our community with volunteers helping to re-bag the items into manageable sizes for our clients and agencies.”
