Chattanooga Launches Mentor Program
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The City of Chattanooga is aiming to connect community members with youth in need.
This morning they launched the Mentor Hub.
This online platform allows interested organizations and individuals the chance to offer mentoring services across the city.
Several organizations are partnering with the city to facilitate these mentorship programs.
The program was designed with violence reduction in mind.
Christopher Sands, the executive director for the city’s community safety department, said, “The reason why we are having some of the issues that we have had is because young people are bored and are looking for things to do. This is an opportunity to come out of our shells, make money, have mentors from different walks of life to come together to connect and see a change right here in Chattanooga, Tennessee.”
The application is about a page long.
Sands says that you can expect a response within a week.
They look to utilize facilities like Bessie Smith Cultural Center in the program.
