Chattanooga Leaders Thank State for Riverfront Investment

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)- Community leaders gathered at Ross’s Landing Thursday to thank Governor Bill Lee and state lawmakers for committing $15 million in the state’s 2025–2026 budget to transform Chattanooga’s riverfront parks.

Local officials, including Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly and Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp, say the investment will be a game-changer for families, tourism, and the city’s connection to nature.

“This is going to be a whole new place in the next couple of years,” said Bill, a local advocate. “People love the natural beauty of downtown—and this project builds on that.”

Mayor Tim Kelly announced the city will contribute an additional $5 million over the next two years, saying the project honors the city’s past while embracing a more vibrant, inclusive future.

The plan includes more green space, a café on the pier, areas for kids to play, and flexible spaces for events and gatherings—all along the scenic Tennessee River.

“It’s going to be immersive and full of life,” said Mayor Wamp. “Ross’s Landing was once a hub of activity and culture—let’s make it that way again.”

A final design plan is expected later this summer, with construction projected to begin in early 2026.
