Chattanooga man accused of raping woman in front of her child
Darious Lamar Fuget, 26, of Chattanooga was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of an alleged rape that occurred on Monday.
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, police responded to a residence in the 2000 block of East 12th Street to investigate a call about a disorder. When police arrived on scene, they were notified that a possible sex crime may have occurred inside the residence.
The alleged victim’s boyfriend told police that when he came home, he found his girlfriend in bed with no clothes on and traces of semen on both her body and the bed. During their investigation, police learned the victim’s child witnessed Fuget sexually assaulting the victim.
The woman told police she invited Fuget over to the residence to drink with her, but also told them she passed out from the combination of alcohol and pain medication she took. According to the arrest affidavit, the woman woke up to the sound of her boyfriend yelling at her about having sex with someone. She also told police she wasn’t sure what happened after she passed out.
The woman was taken to the Rape Crisis Center.
Fuget was later picked up by police and taken to Chattanooga Police Headquarters for questioning. During the interview with investigators, Fuget reportedly admitted to having sex with the victim while she was passed out. It’s unclear if he was aware that her child had witnessed the act.
Fuget’s bond was set at $75,000 and his next court date is set for January 12.
Fuget was also charged with theft for an unrelated case involving stolen kitchen appliances from an apartment complex. The theft was first reported to police back in late October.
Fuget is also no stranger to trouble. According to Hamilton County Court records, Fuget was convicted back in 2011 for burglary.
