Chattanooga man arrested for driving dead mother’s body to Nashville VA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Chattanooga man was charged with failure to report the discovery of a dead body and evidence tampering.

Metro Nashville Police say that Thomas Henshall Jr. admitted to driving a corpse, believed to be his mother, from Hamilton County to Nashville.

Police say that Henshall arrived at Nashville’s VA Medical Center Saturday evening with the body rolled up in a tarp in the back of his truck.

Henshall claims that his mother, 60-year-old Danielle Bowen, committed suicide and he found her in a wooded area in Chattanooga.

He says that he and his girlfriend stopped for gas, coffee and food before driving, with the body already in the truck, to a VA medical facility in Chattanooga and saw it was closed.

That’s when they decided to drive to Nashville.

Henshall told investigators that he was right next to his mother when she shot herself, but apparently told his girlfriend that he had discovered her in the woods.

He is in jail in Nashville with an $80,000 bond.
