Chattanooga Market opens for the first time this season

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Market has officially opened for the first time of this season.

The market kicked off their season with a two day event and customers were loving it.

Last summer the market had a very limited number of vendors and business was slow.

This weekend the market allowed 130 vendors.

Business owners tell news 12 they have never seen such a busy day at the market.

“This is our seventh season. It’s been our biggest opening since we have started. I think it’s because the people of this community have come out to support all these small businesses. Everyone has had a tough time. But everyone has had a great two days, says Candy Meck, Co-Owner of the Simply Southern Bakery.

“Everybody is excited to be back and out of the house and have something to do now that Covid is Covid. I’m excited to be here and showcase what I have to offer,” says Jessica Bryant, Owner of Twisted Whiskers Coffee.

The market is open on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

Masks and social distancing are encouraged.
